The Rotary Club of Gloucester has a long history of supporting and maintaining the playground at Stage Fort Park.

In 2005, we celebrated the Rotary International Centennial Anniversary by rebuilding the children's park.  We added new equipment, made the playground handicap accessible, and ensured the park was code compliant.  The playground and surrounding picnic areas were landscaped with over forty trees, multiple shrubs and connecting walkways.  Additionally, wheelchair accessible picnic tables and new benches were installed.  To date, the Gloucester Rotary has facilitated over $300,000 in improvements thanks to the generous support of the Gloucester community. In addition, Gloucester Rotarians annually volunteer their time to maintain the playground areas by weeding, painting benches, mulching, and general cleaning.

In June 2023, the Gloucester Rotary Club celebrated our centennial anniversary.  In celebration of this milestone, we would like to continue where we left off by expanding the playground area, replacing out of code playground equipment, and improving signage to include multiple languages, including Braille.  The estimated cost to do this project is $200,000.

The old playground equipment will be removed and the ground will be leveled off.  Handicap compliant walkways will be created, and new equipment suitable for ages five and under will be installed.

With your support, both residents and visitors of Cape Ann will be able to enjoy a day with their entire family while looking out over our beautiful harbor.  Again, thank you for being part of this unique opportunity.  Your donation to the Gloucester Rotary Club’s Stage Fort Park Children’s Playground Project is an investment in civic pride, community spirit, and ultimately a better Gloucester.
