2008/2009 Speaker Assignments

   Unless there is a business meeting scheduled, the Gloucester Rotary has speakers at all of its noon meetings. Speakers are the guest of the member (or members) responsible for that month. Pairs of members for a given month must meet to decide who will take which dates. Speakers normally have 20 to 25 minutes to make a presentation, and should leave time for questions, if appropriate. Topics may include almost anything that would be of interest to the membership, but political proselytizing and direct appeals for financial support are frowned on.

Suggestions for possible speakers include:

• City, county, state, or federal officials who can explain their jobs and answer questions from the membership.
• Club members or non-Rotarians with interesting jobs, hobbies, or participation in other organizations.
• Artists, musicians, or writers who can give a short performance or reading.
• Students who have received Rotary support to study abroad, or foreign students studying in the U.S. The district has information about these people.
• Just about anyone from the Cape Ann area who can be articulate for 20 minutes.
